FORWARD OPERATING BASE FALCON, Iraq – Pfc. Joshua MacQuarrie (right), an infantryman from Copperas Cove, Texas, assigned to Company D, 1st Battalion, 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment, attached to the 1st Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, Multi-National Division – Baghdad, digs down deep after Staff Sgt. Omar Jackson, infantry squad leader from Newark N.J., registers a hit with his metal detecting wand while searching for weapons caches along the Tigris River in southern Baghdad. The paratroopers part of the 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division, stationed out of Fort Bragg, N.C., are scheduled to replace the 2nd Bn., 4th Inf. Regt., who will redeploy early next year after completing its 14-month mission to secure the people of Doura and assist Rashid’s Iraqi Security Forces transition into the lead.

FORWARD OPERATING BASE FALCON, Iraq – 1st Lt. Kyle Fitchner, an infantry platoon leader from Broken Arrow, Okla., assigned to Company D, 2nd Battalion, 4th Infantry Regiment, attached to the 1st Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, Multi-National Division – Baghdad, leads Staff Sgt. Omar Jackson, an infantry squad leader from Newark, N.J., assigned to Company D, 1st Battalion, 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment, during a security patrol to inspect Iraqi Security Forces checkpoints in the Karb de Gla community of the Rashid district in southern Baghdad. The 2nd Bn., 4th Inf. Regt. will begin to redeploy in late December, returning to Fort Polk, La., by early next year. The 1st Bn. “Panthers” of the 505th PIR, part of the 3rd BCT, 82nd Airborne Division, stationed at Fort Bragg, N.C., deployed to Forward Operating Base Falcon, in southern Baghdad, will replace the Warriors, who just completed a 14-month tour in support of MND-B and Operation Iraqi Freedom.
