1st Sgt. David Ceballos, first sergeant for Company D, 2-505 pays his respects to Staff Sgt. Justin L. Bauer during a memorial ceremony Jan. 16 at Forward Operating Base Loyalty. Bauer served as a squad leader for Co. D, 2nd Bn., 505th Parachute Inf. Regt., 3rd BCT, 82nd Abn. Div. He was killed when an improvised explosive device struck his vehicle during a combat patrol Jan. 10 in Baghdad. Bauer, a native of Loveland, Colo., is survived by his wife Kari, mother Connie L.
